How Rain Forms.
Rain starts with water on Earth.
The sun warms rivers, lakes, and oceans.
Some water rises into the air as water vapor.
High in the sky, the vapor turns into tiny drops and makes clouds.
When the drops get heavy, rain falls back to Earth.
